Amarie

The first of the DV screen tests, this scene follows in the tradition of one of the oldest "special effefts" in moviemaking history. Long ago is was discovered that if a scene was shot backwards (the actors actually walk backwards, starting at the end and ending at the beginning) while the film also ran through the camera backwards, the resulting footage would appear to move forward (normally) through time. The effect, however, was quite "otherworldly".

It took more time to direct the action in the scene (showing Amarie how to fall into the bed without bouncing too much, pushing the door "just right", etc.) than it took to actually shoot and edit the resulting footage. The results demonstrate a very simplistic scene in the "horror" genre.
